Scene 1: Daylight
In these grey days
of doubt
of the melancholy
you can’t quite explain
as you watch innocence and its laughter
tarnished by the assault of anger
heard in the distant thunder
and in the urgent cry of duty, calling
lifting you higher
to where the clouds of violence hover
like vultures over the raging plain of battle
where you will sacrifice everything you ever loved
just to settle
like the petal of a flower, plowed
into the ground by the force of a hurricane
Scene 2: Twilight
It is said, love is truly seen in selfless giving
and for those who would give everything
just so that we could gain
we may still hear their voices
whispering in every drop of falling rain
reminding us of the price that they paid
the day that freedom came
